And again about the main thing: is it worth insuring or... and it will pass?
As long as there is insurance, there are so many debates in society: is it worth insuring at all? After all, it is not yet known whether an insured event will or will not happen, and the money for the insurance payment must be given to the insurer in any case! And there is no truth, children: people in general have a desire to drive away from themselves various bad thoughts as far as possible, they say, some troubles in life, of course, can happen, but - in any case, not to me! A certain protective mechanism is activated: why think about the bad, why attract all this negativity? Therefore, in the understanding of some, an insurance policy is an absolutely unnecessary thing, a kind of extra "paper", for which you also have to pay...
However, whatever opinion you may have regarding the appropriateness of insurance in general and auto insurance or property insurance in particular, life often forces you not only to change your point of view, but also to pay for your own carelessness, recklessness and safety. And paying dearly. At least a lot more than the insurance policy would cost.
This story happened last night in the city of Lyman (formerly Red Liman) in Donetsk region. The driver of the Volkswagen Toureg off-road vehicle left the road at breakneck speed and, taking an iron post and bumper "on board", rammed a one-story office building, which, by the way, among others, housed the office of the TAS Insurance Group, which was the only one that survived this accident.
Actually, only a brick wall was able to stop this deranged homegrown Schumacher. It should be noted that the impact was extremely powerful: in fact, the entire facade of the building was completely destroyed as a result of the car collision.
The only thing that can be happy about this story is that, despite the magnitude of the accident, the driver survived and is currently in the hospital. Fortunately, other people were not injured either - fortunately, the event happened at night and there were no pedestrians on the street and no employees in the offices.
However, the issue of compensation for damages remains open. After all, it is clear that the cost of restoring an actually destroyed building will be considerable, to put it mildly. And if you add to this compensation for damages to tenants whose property was also damaged as a result of the accident, the figure will turn out to be simply cosmic. And this is not to mention the benefit they did not receive as a result of the forced break in work and many other expenses... Plus there is still a broken car. But that's another story...
But what should the owner of the house do right now? Where to look for money? How to restore the building? And the main question: is all this worth the couple of thousand hryvnias that he would have spent on insuring his property, and in return he would promptly receive compensation for all damages and money for the reconstruction/restoration of the building?
Under such conditions, is it really worth paying attention to the notorious psychological defense mechanism, which makes one not to think about the possible troubles that may happen in life? Or maybe it's better to actually protect yourself beforehand just in case? After all, anything can happen in life - even what we don't want to think about. And even if we know that something can happen, we still try to live randomly. Psychologists explain this phenomenon by the fact that in this way our brain protects us from stress and worries, as if telling us: "Don't worry! This will definitely not happen to you!". Of course, this is self-deception. But when serious problems arise, it is certainly not easier to realize that it was self-deception.
Smokers are a good example. Every day, picking up another pack of cigarettes, they see the inscription "Smoking kills" and scary pictures of cancerous tumors. And at the same time, they calmly take out a cigarette and light it... Of course, they could not help but pay attention to the terrifying design of this pack, but at the subconscious level, the protective mechanism "convinces" them: "This is all untrue, it definitely does not concern you, everything will be fine with you!". But we know that the harmfulness of smoking is a fact! It is the awareness of this that prompts heavy smokers to quit, or at least to start thinking about it. By the way, in the same Europe, where health is used to being treated more carefully than in our country, there are already countries where the demand for cigarettes has almost dropped to zero. It is thanks to citizens' awareness of the consequences of smoking.
The same applies to other possible troubles that may happen in life. So, should we live in self-deception and drive away unpleasant thoughts, or is it better to do the math once, figure out the problem, solve it and sleep peacefully? What is better to choose: reliable protection from a decent insurer or illusory, illusory: "Nothing will happen to me"?
Of course, this is to some extent a rhetorical question... But we know the answer to it for sure, but how will you answer it? Are you still sure that nothing will happen to you, because, as practice shows, even if you do not drink while driving, carefully observe all the norms, laws and rules of a civilized society, are extremely careful and circumspect, well, despite all this, you can still never be one hundred percent sure that nothing will happen to you or your property, because you simply cannot know who will be next to you at one moment. It's unfortunate, but it's a fact. So draw your own conclusions...
